Andrae is getting torched out there. That's a lot of goals to be on the ice against |

Would it not be a surprise if a team does claim Morin. Teams are always looking for some way to upgrade their team at a low cost/ low risk weather it be in college, minors , undrafted players, KHL. A team that needs a physical Dman ( like we do) could take a chance on Morin? The kid has had some tough luck, I would like to see him make it |

The thing is, he would have to be on the NHL roster if they claimed him. And if they wanted to send him down he would have to go through waivers again.
That is why I think it wont happen.

I still think that Big Sam's story isn't over. I believe that he will make the Flyers proud. |

I agree. I still think he can have a career and be a viable 3rd pair guy at some point. |

Any team claiming him would have to keep him on the NHL roster.

You can't teach size and if he can learn to leverage himself physically he can still contribute. |

Yup, teenager playing first season against grown men in a league that is a bit better than the AHL. Obviously a bust since he didn’t dominate the league from day one.

Re Morin
No one is taking him on waivers but I agree with you. If he can stay healthy, I think he could be a 3rd pair, PK guy who will add some snarl to the lineup. |

Andrae the Midget.
-9 in 12 games probably just a coincidence.

On Morin, he should clear waivers but the Senators would be one team that could could suck it up and roster him for the necessary month needed.
They are going to stink anyway, so taking a minor risk on a hulking French Canadian D prospect at a super low cap hit may be worth it with the sting of giving up on Chara still haunting them. Additionally their D pipeline isnt great |

would it shock me for a team to take a chance on claiming him? no. but i seriously hope a team wouldn't do that just to add him as a 7th dman. If there is a player in the organization that needs playing time badly Morin is that person. There should be some sort of waiver for a player in a situation like him. |

He is -4. He will be fine. He is an 18-year-old in one of the tougher pro leagues. |

The only reason I would disagree is that the kid needs to play. Claiming him then basically sitting him really doesn't help him or the team claiming him. Of course if they play him that is a different story, but Im not sure how much throwing him right in to NHL action would benefit him either.

They only have to roster him for the first 30 days...they could then waive him to the AHL once NHL rosters are set and significantly reduce the risk of him being picked up. They then place him in AHL and he gets the same playing time he would on Phantoms...just missing on first month which isnt really a full month if AHL doesnt start until Feb

I wonder if the Flyers or Morin looked into Europe as an option for him to get the much needed playing time he needs. The Flyers cant worry about him being claimed; waiving is the correct call. |
